A joint operation by Indian Army intelligence units and Rajasthan Police has uncovered an alleged counterfeit military uniform supply network in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, leading to the seizure of nearly 1,000 metres of unauthorised Army-pattern combat cloth from multiple shops. The operation stemmed from a June seizure of counterfeit combat cloth in Bareilly, which investigators traced back to a manufacturing source in Sriganganagar. Following the lead, Indian Army intelligence personnel conducted a discreet investigation that identified a local firm as a key link in the supply chain allegedly distributing fake Army-pattern combat fabric across the region.
Read Full Story According to officials, the firm was suspected of supplying counterfeit military-pattern cloth to vendors in Sriganganagar town as well as markets in Lalgarh Jattan, Suratgarh and nearby areas. LEAD FROM BAREILLY SEIZURE TRIGGERED PROBE After gathering evidence, Army intelligence units shared an interim investigation report with Rajasthan Police in mid-July. Based on the findings, a coordinated operation was launched on July 30, with police and security personnel carrying out searches at multiple shops across the district.
The raids resulted in the recovery of around 1,000 metres of unauthorised new-pattern combat cloth resembling material used for military uniforms. SECURITY RISK DUE TO POTENTIAL IMPERSONATION Officials said the unauthorised possession, sale or use of military-pattern combat fabric is a punishable offence. Such counterfeit material poses a significant security threat as it can be used to impersonate armed forces personnel and facilitate unlawful activities. Investigators are now probing the extent of the supply network and whether the counterfeit cloth was being distributed beyond Rajasthan to other parts of the country.
