A 36-year-old associate operator at a multinational company was found hanging at his house in Gurugram's Surat Nagar area, police said on Saturday. Police identified him as Sanjeev Yadav, a native of Amritsar who lived there with his family. The case is being investigated after Yadav's family alleged foul play and said there had been a dispute between him and his wife, who had sought a divorce. Police said his wife has been detained and the matter is being examined from every angle. Read Full Story According to police, Yadav's body was found hanging on Thursday when only his wife, Manpreet Kaur, and their seven-year-old son were at home.
Police said it was also reported that the child recorded a video on his mobile phone while watching his father hanging, while his mother screamed for someone to take him down. Manpreet then called her own family and Sanjeev's parents to inform them about the death. Yadav's sister Kiran alleged that there had been a dispute between her brother and his wife and said that otherwise he could not have hanged himself. She also said the circumstances of his death must be investigated and described the video showing him hanging from the fan as suspicious, noting that her brother weighed more than 100 kg.
Yadav's father Ramsevak Yadav said a dispute had been going on between the couple for some time and alleged that his daughter-in-law conspired with others to murder his son. Police said Sanjeev and Manpreet, who is from Ambala, had a love marriage on April 29, 2018. They had met about eight years earlier while working at Denso in Gurugram and later got married. Sanjeev had been living in Gurugram since the wedding. Manpreet gave birth to their son in 2019 and left her job soon after. Sub-inspector Mahender Singh, the investigating officer, said, "We handed over the body to kin after the postmortem and are investigating from every angle.
The post-mortem report of the deceased is awaited, which will reveal the exact cause of death and action will be taken as per the law." The case centres on the death of Sanjeev Yadav, the family's allegations against his wife, and the police investigation now under way. Ends
