Advocates allegiance to the All India Lawyers’ Union (AILU) staged a dharna on Saturday in Vijayawada demanding the government should release dues under the Nyaya Mithra scheme, introduce an Act for the protection of advocates from attacks, and provide health cards to the eligible ones.
Addressing the gathering, AILU president Sunkara Rajendra Prasad said the government must support the junior lawyers and give stipend to those fulfilling the criteria, and expressed concern over the growing attacks on the members of the legal fraternity.
Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) president V. Lakshmi Narayana said the governments in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Telangana had enacted legislations for the protection of advocates and
the State government should follow suit.
