The 81st edition of annual Sri Thyagaraja festival of music and dance commenced at Thyagaraja Hall in Tirupati on Saturday. TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, who is also the e officio chairman of the Thyagaraja festival committee, formally inaugurated the event.
The portrait of late M. Krishnaswami, the former chairman of the cultural trust, was unveiled by Mr. Ravichandra on the occasion of his birth centenary year. Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Officer praised the cultural trust for its efforts in conducting the music and dance festival every year, thus providing a treat to the connoisseurs of classical music.
He later conferred the ‘Sapthagiri Sangeetha Vidwanmani’, an annual title presented by the trust, on noted musician Srimushnam V. Raja Rao, in recognition of his ‘lifelong legacy of rhythmic mastery and Carnatic excellence’. The trust’s executive chairman K.V. Mohan Sundaram, honorary secretary Kanchi Raghuramaiah, members M.
