The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) removed 313 encroachments from roads, footpaths and other public spaces across 15 stretches on Saturday, as part of its weekly ‘Walk Free’ initiative. The enforcement drive covered a total distance of 17.95 km across the Serilingampally, Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zones, according to the civic body.
The highest number of encroachments was removed in Quthbullapur Zone, where CMC teams cleared 154 encroachments along 6.85 km. This included 42 encroachments in Nizampet, 27 in Jeedimetla, 21 in Medchal, 18 each in Chintal and Dundigal, 16 in Kompally and 12 in Gajularamaram. In the Serilingampally Zone, 106 encroachments were removed along stretches covering 8.5 km.
Of these, 30 were removed in Narsingi, 27 in Ameenpur, 18 in Miyapur, 16 in Serilingampally and 15 in Patancheru. Another 53 encroachments were cleared across 2.6 km in Kukatpally Zone. The drive resulted in the removal of 22 encroachments in Madhapur, 20 in Kukatpally and 11 in Allwyn Colony.
CMC said its teams were also regularly monitoring stretches cleared during the drives to prevent re-encroachment and ensure that roads, footpaths and other public spaces reclaimed through the initiative remain free of obstructions.
