GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, held its 17th graduation ceremony, conferring degrees on 1,990 students across various disciplines on Saturday. The graduates included 1,532 undergraduate students, 372 postgraduate students, and 86 Ph.D. scholars. Tollywood filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli attended the ceremony as the chief guest, and GITAM president and Member of Parliament M.
Sribharat presided over the event. The university conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) on master weaver Gajam Govardhana for his contribution to handloom weaving and preserving India’s textile heritage. Seventeen gold medals were awarded to meritorious students, with Digudadi Pranav Rahul receiving the president’s gold medal for securing the highest overall rank among B.Tech graduates.
Best researcher awards were presented to Mohd. Arshad Ansari of the Department of Economics and M.S. Surendra Babu of the Department of Chemistry for their research contributions. Addressing the graduates, Mr. Rajamouli encouraged them to pursue excellence with dedication, passion, and hard work.
Vice-Chancellor Errol D’Souza, Pro Vice-Chancellor D.S. Rao, and others were present.
