The remarks came from Iranian lawmaker Hassan Ghashghavi, who accused Washington of sending contradictory messages while trying to pressure Tehran. Iran accuses US of sending mixed signals In a post on X on Saturday, Ghashghavi said the United States was talking about escalating the war in public while using existing channels to seek negotiations behind the scenes. “In the media, they speak of escalating tensions, but through existing channels, they are asking for negotiations," Ghashghavi wrote.
“They cannot deceive the Islamic Republic," he added. According to the Iranian lawmaker, regardless of whether Washington chooses military escalation or negotiations, the United States has only one option. He said it must accept Tehran’s proposed arrangements for the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump warns of fresh strikes The Iranian statement came as US President Donald Trump warned Tehran of fresh military action while talks aimed at ending the conflict in West Asia continue. Reports have suggested that a new round of strikes could take place as early as this weekend. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has directed the US military to prepare for another assault on Iran in an effort to force Tehran to surrender and accept ceasefire terms. Speaking during a Cabinet meeting at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland on Friday, Trump said, “We will be hitting them very hard… And at some point, they will say we just can’t take it anymore." “I think we just want to win," he added.
Trump also said he was “losing faith" in Iran, accusing its leadership of repeatedly breaking commitments. “They do lie, and they do misrepresent. They always want to talk, but they break their word so often," the US President said. US, Israel weighing military option According to officials quoted by CBS News, the United States and Israel are considering what could become one of the harshest bombing campaigns against Iran. If carried out, it would mark Israel’s first direct involvement in military operations against Iran in several weeks. Officials are reportedly aiming to conclude any operation before financial markets open on Monday because of concerns about the possible impact on the US economy and global markets. Israel has already been informed about the planning and is coordinating with the United States. However, Trump has not yet issued the final order authorising the strikes. Iran warns of retaliation Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official told the Tasnim news agency that Tehran has already prepared a “comprehensive plan" to respond if the United States or Israel attacks Iran’s energy infrastructure.
