HYDERABAD The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) has handled the maximum ever peak load of 10,447 megawatt and supplied maximum energy of 209.91 million units in July as the high rainfall deficit has pushed the demand up not only by the agriculture sector but commercial and domestic categories too. The peak load of power was recorded on July 25, while peak demand of energy was registered on July 15.
Chairman and Managing Director of the TGSPDCL Jitesh V. Patil stated on Saturday that they were able to handle the demand without any power supply interruption. Patil said the Southern Discom had effectively managed the rising demand with advance planning, efficient load management, strengthening of the power distribution network, augmentation of substation capacities, construction of new substations and development of feeders, thereby ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to all categories of consumers.
Further, he stated that the maximum power demand in the GHMC area was recorded on July 13, when it clocked 4,052 megawatt and the maximum energy demand was 84.9 MU. The total energy consumption in the Discom areas during July was 5,701.73 MU - including 2,359.2 MU in the GHMC area. The CMD stated that handling such a high demand was possible through continuous infrastructure development network modernisation, preventive maintenance, adoption of advanced technologies and deployment of additional manpower and resources.
Field-level officers and staff were working round the clock to efficiently manage the increasing electricity demand from the agricultural, domestic, commercial and industrial sectors.
