Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s youth are emerging as the driving force behind the country’s progress, crediting them for achievements across sectors ranging from manufacturing and the economy to space exploration. He also highlighted the government’s push to strengthen education and skill development, saying educational institutions are key to unlocking the country’s potential. Speaking at the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as the Vivekananda Memorial, in Mysuru, Modi congratulated the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama and the scholars associated with the project. “Today, through the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as the Vivekananda Memorial, we are giving this mission a new dimension," he said.
‘Youth Are India’s Greatest Strength’ Emphasising the role of young people in nation-building, the Prime Minister said the strength of any nation lies in empowering its youth with the right opportunities, guidance and confidence to pursue their aspirations. “The potential of the youth in any country becomes the strength of that nation when they receive the right opportunities, the right guidance, and the confidence to dream big and fulfil those dreams on their own soil. In this, our educational institutions play a very important role," Modi said. He said the success of flagship initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India has been driven by the contribution and capabilities of India’s youth. Modi also said India’s youth are powering the country’s rise on the global stage. “Today, India’s economy is the fastest-growing among the world’s major economies. Who is driving this growth? It is the strength, talent and potential of India’s youth," – PM Modi. He added that India has become the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer because of the talent and capabilities of its young people. Highlighting achievements in the space sector, Modi said young Indians have reached another milestone.
“For the first time, a rocket developed by a private company founded and driven by young Indians has successfully reached space," he said, adding that India’s youth are driving global growth. Education Reforms And Modern Infrastructure Highlighting the government’s focus on education, the Prime Minister said significant efforts have been made to strengthen school education and modernise the country’s education system. According to Modi, more than 14,000 PM SHRI schools have been developed across the country with the aim of ensuring that education goes beyond textbooks and fosters innovation and scientific temperament among children. To support this objective, over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs have also been established. He also noted that the number of medical colleges in the country has increased to 823. “On one hand, we are modernising our education infrastructure. At the same time, the education system is also being transformed to meet the needs of the modern era," Modi said.
