Rapid Read The Ram Temple trust has said that the CEO will play a pivotal role in introducing institutional safeguards and restoring public faith | File image The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has introduced a new surveillance mechanism to strengthen transparency and accountability in the handling of donations at the Ram Temple, amid an ongoing probe into the alleged misappropriation of devotees’ offerings. Under the new system, implemented from July 25, every stage of the donation process, beginning with the removal of collection boxes from inside the temple to the counting of cash, is being recorded on camera, a senior Trust official said.
An eight-member team has been assigned to monitor the entire process. The Trust official said 360-degree cameras and SLR cameras are being used to capture each step, creating a visual trail from the movement of donation boxes to the final counting of the money. Officials said the initiative aims to ensure greater transparency, strengthen credibility and improve accountability across the donation management system. New Donation Handling Process The Trust has also revised the procedure for emptying the temple’s around 40 donation boxes. Previously, several boxes were opened together, but under the new arrangement, boxes are now being emptied on separate days to enable detailed monitoring. Two professional videographers have been appointed for the process. Each bo opening exercise is conducted in the presence of two bank officials, two Trust representatives and two security personnel. After the counting process is completed, officials from the State Bank of India formally seal the donation box in the counting room.
The enhanced monitoring system comes weeks after an alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple led to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. Police have arrested several accused in connection with the case, and the investigation is currently underway. The Trust believes that the combination of continuous videography, involvement of multiple agencies and bank officials will eliminate the possibility of manipulation and help restore devotees’ confidence. Officials added that the new system will assist in faster audits and help address any complaints related to the donation process. Probe Into Firm Linked To Accused’s Wife Investigators are examining the business activities and financial records of a firm registered in the name of Poonam Devi, wife of key accused Ram Shankar ‘Tinnu’ Yadav, to determine whether there is any connection with the alleged donation embezzlement. Ashutosh Tiwari, the circle officer and investigating officer in the case, has written to the state tax department seeking complete details of the firm, Saundarya Construction and Suppliers.
