Mavadiya was allegedly murdered by his wife, Prithvi alias Bhumiben, her lover and an associate. To avoid suspicion, the accused used to tell her family that her husband had moved to Australia and that his employer had prohibited phone calls, India Today reported. However, the deception unraveled after a cousin planning a trip to Australia sought Jignesh’s address and contact details, which his wife failed to provide. Her continued hesitation over her husband’s whereabouts sowed seeds of doubt within the family. Subsequently, a police complaint was lodged by Jignesh’s brother on July 26 this year. An investigation into the matter led to the discovery of Jignesh’s mortal remains from 12 feet beneath a factory premises in Jamnagar on July 30. All three accused –– Prithvi, her alleged e boyfriend, Nilesh Kachhatiya, and his friend Balveer Verma –– were arrested.
The mortal remains of the deceased were handed over to forensic experts to establish his identity, India Today reported. How Incident Unfolded According to the police, Prithvi allegedly murdered Jignesh by poisoning him in collusion with Nilesh. She was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with him at the time. On the night of May 31, 2024, the accused allegedly lured Jignesh to an industrial shed in the city on the pretext of an alcohol party. There, he was served the cyanide-laced liquor, after which he died on the spot. Following this, the accused dug a pit 12 feet deep, buried the body, and later sealed the spot with nearly one-foot-thick concrete layer. “The crime scene was reconstructed in the presence of the accused before the excavation was carried out, which revealed skeletal remains believed to be those of Jignesh," said Assistant Superintendent of Police Pratibha, according to the news agency PTI.
