An Indian content creator living in Australia received an unexpected shoutout from comedian Vir Das, leaving him emotional after learning that one of the country's biggest comedians was a fan of his videos. Gaurav Yadav, an Indian based in Sydney, Australia, shared the moment on his Instagram account after discovering that Vir Das had mentioned him during a podcast. The clip quickly caught the attention of social media users, many of whom celebrated the wholesome interaction between the two creators. It then cut to a clip from the comedian's podcast, where Das spoke about one of his favourite creators on the internet. "My favourite social media handle on the internet is a guy who lives in Sydney, Australia," Das said.
He went on to explain that Yadav worked a regular tech job and had built a following simply by filming himself eating his office lunches. "He's just a guy who works in tech. And he just eats and records himself eating on camera. And there's an appetite, sir. And people are just... watching him eat," the comedian joked. The video then switched back to Yadav, who was visibly overwhelmed by the praise. Thanking Das, he admitted he had never imagined that someone he had admired for years would even know who he was. "Vir Das, thank you. I would never have imagined that somebody I have looked up to for years would even know that I exist," he said. Reflecting on the moment, Yadav added that hearing the comedian call him one of his favourite creators made him realise how unpredictable life could be.
"Life is weird. So damn weird, actually. You never know where it's gonna take you. So nice of him," he said with a smile. In the caption accompanying the post, Yadav detailed on how his content journey had begun with a simple idea. He wrote that when he first started filming himself eating lunch during his 9-to-5 job, he believed only a handful of people would relate to it. Never, he said, had he imagined that a comedian he had watched for years would recognise his work, let alone publicly call himself a fan. Using the moment as encouragement for others, Yadav urged people not to abandon their passion projects while pursuing conventional careers. He wrote that people should earn their degrees, do their jobs and pay their EMIs, but continue building something of their own because they never know where a small side project might lead.
