Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new reel Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday appealed for compassion and forgiveness towards the youngsters who allegedly used abusive language against him during the recent protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, saying he did not want them to be punished and hoped they would learn from their mistakes. In a video message shared on social media, PM Modi said he wanted to speak directly to the people about the incident. “Hi friends, today I just feel like talking to you. Whatever happened at Jantar Mantar has been seen by the entire country and the world. Some misguided youngsters used extremely abusive language—words that do not befit any civilised society. They abused me, and they even abused my late mother." Rather than calling for strict action, the Prime Minister said young people often make mistakes and should be given a chance to improve.
“I don’t know what kind of state of mind they were in, but today I want to say that mistakes happen in childhood and youth. And at that stage of life, people also have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. That is what being young is about." He acknowledged the public anger over the incident but urged society to respond with understanding instead of hatred. ‘I Want to Forgive Them’ PM Modi said he wanted to forgive those involved and appealed to society to do the same. “I want to forgive them. I hope society will also accept my appeal. Because I believe that sometimes our tongue gets caught between our teeth. It may bleed, but we do not break our teeth, because the teeth are ours and the tongue is ours. In the same way, these children are ours. It is our duty to guide them." He added that taking legal action alone would not solve the problem. “Punishing them, dragging them through court cases, or harassing their families will not change the situation." Calling on the youngsters to focus on building their future, the Prime Minister urged them to learn from their mistakes and contribute to the country’s progress.
“So, I say to these children: Come, let us move forward together for the country. Learn something new. Learn from your mistakes. Chase your dreams. Our country is progressing and will continue to progress, and I hope that each one of you progresses as well—that is my dream. I live for you. I dedicate myself to your better future. Come, let us work together to take our country forward." Remarks Come Amid Ruchika Singh Controversy The Prime Minister’s remarks came amid the controversy surrounding Ruchika Singh, who was booked after a viral video from the July 23 protest allegedly showed her using abusive language against him. Several posters carrying offensive messages against the Prime Minister also surfaced online during and after the protest. Hyderabad Police Files Case Against Meta Head The Hyderabad Police have registered a case against the head of Meta India, along with several Facebook and Instagram accounts, over posts allegedly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest over the NEET paper leak. Responding to the development, a Meta spokesperson said, “We are in touch with the concerned agencies and are cooperating with them to resolve the matter." The move came shortly after the Delhi Police initiated action against multiple X (formerly Twitter) accounts by issuing notices over allegedly sharing “objectionable and derogatory content" aimed at constitutional functionaries.
