The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, in coordination with the Saifabad police, arrested three persons for procuring and selling Mephentermine Sulphate injections illegally and seized 100 vials of the drug, a two-wheeler and three mobile phones worth about ₹4 lakh. The accused were identified as 31-year-old Shaik Faheem, an electrician, 35-year-old Mohd Nayeem, a car electrician, and 22-year-old Ibrahim Hussain, a student.
All three are residents of Natraj Nagar, Tappachabutra. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the trio near Shree Maruti Logistics, beside an HP petrol pump lane, within the Saifabad police station limits, while they were travelling on a Yamaha Aerox scooter. During the investigation, police found the accused allegedly procured Mephentermine Sulphate Injection IP (Mephpro) 10 ml vials through a transporter from a supplier identified as Shakti Huda, a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, and were selling them at inflated prices.
Police seized 100 vials of Mephentermine Sulphate injections, three mobile phones and the scooter used for transportation. Officials cautioned that Mephentermine is a prescription drug whose misuse can lead to serious health complications, including cardiac arrest, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems. They urged the public, particularly youngsters, to avoid using such stimulant drugs without medical supervision.
The accused and the seized property were handed over to the Saifabad police for further investigation.
