The Siddipet Police have launched ‘SHE SAFE’, an initiative aimed at improving safety for women and families travelling along Rajiv Rahadari by identifying and developing secure stop points on the highway. Siddipet Police Commissioner Rashmi Perumal on Friday launched the initiative, which seeks to designate hotels, fuel stations and other establishments, along the highway as ‘SHE SAFE’ zones after they meet specified safety standards.
Under the initiative, establishments will be recognised as safe zones only if they provide facilities including secure parking, quality food, clean washrooms, CCTV surveillance, adequate lighting and trusted staff. The Commissioner personally inspected several locations along Rajiv Rahadari and reviewed the existing facilities. She interacted with establishment owners and suggested measures to improve safety arrangements.
Earlier, the Siddipet Police had conducted an awareness meeting with commercial establishments located along the highway, urging them to install CCTV cameras, strengthen surveillance systems and coordinate with police to ensure a safer environment for commuters. “The ‘SHE SAFE’ programme is a continuous process. We are currently identifying key locations along the highway. Over the next month, we will ensure that all safety protocols are implemented at these locations, transforming them into comprehensive safe zones,” Rashmi Perumal said.
The initiative is aimed at providing women travellers and families with trusted locations where they can stop during their journeys without hesitation or fear.
