BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao appeared before the Special ACB Court at Nampally on Friday in connection with the Formula-E race case, as formal trial proceedings commenced. Municipal Administration Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and former HMDA Chief Engineer B.L.N. Reddy, who are also accused in the case, appeared before the court. Representatives of Formula E Operations (FEO), another accused in the case, were absent.
The court furnished Mr. Rama Rao with a copy of the chargesheet and other case-related documents. He also executed a personal bond of ₹1 lakh as directed by the court. The matter was subsequently adjourned to August 25, with the court directing Mr. Rama Rao to furnish two sureties of ₹1 lakh each on the next date of hearing. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had filed a chargesheet in the case, following which the court took cognisance of the matter on May 14, 2026, and issued summons to all the accused.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in payments made in connection with the Formula-E race held in Hyderabad. According to Mr. Rama Rao’s legal team, no arguments on the merits of the case were heard on Friday and the proceedings were confined to the supply of the chargesheet and other documents. Rama Rao arrived at the court accompanied by BRS legislators, former ministers, former MLAs and senior party leaders, while a large number of party workers and supporters gathered outside the court premises.
After the hearing, he left for Narsampet to attend the funeral of former MLA and Telangana movement leader Peddi Sudarshan Reddy.
