Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza is warning of a looming healthcare emergency as a worsening power crisis threatens life-saving services. Hospital officials say three generators have failed, leaving the facility dependent on a small number of ageing machines running continuously for more than two years amid fuel shortages and a lack of spare parts.
The crisis has already forced operating rooms to suspend services, while intensive care, neonatal and dialysis units remain at risk of shutting down at any moment. Al-Aqsa Hospital is the only government-run hospital serving more than 500,000 people in central Gaza.
Administrators say the remaining generators are under mounting pressure, with no reliable access to replacement parts or maintenance equipment. Doctors warn that every passing day brings the hospital closer to a full-scale healthcare collapse, threatening thousands of patients who rely on critical treatment.
