Image/X An Indian Army Major lost his life and two Lieutenant-rank officers sustained serious injuries after their SUV collided with a camel and overturned multiple times near the Jaisalmer Military Station in Rajasthan during the early hours of Friday. The fatal crash took place around 12:30 am near the War Museum in the Thaiyat area, approximately six to eighteen kilometres from Jaisalmer city headquarters.

Deceased Officer Married a Month Ago The deceased officer has been identified as 30-year-old Major Hamza Arif, a native of Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He had reportedly married just a month ago. Major Arif was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision and succumbed to severe injuries during emergency medical treatment. The two surviving officers trapped inside the mangled wreckage were identified as Lieutenant Abhinav Rathore and Lieutenant Ayushman Gusain. Army personnel and local authorities rushed to the scene shortly after the crash to execute a rescue operation.
All three officers were initially evacuated to the Military Hospital in Thaiyat, where Major Arif was declared dead. The two Lieutenants remain under specialised medical care at the facility. Major Arif’s body was later shifted to the mortuary at Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer for post-mortem procedures. Joint Investigation Launched A joint inquiry has been initiated by the local Sadar Police and Military Police to establish the precise sequence of events leading up to the accident. Preliminary findings confirm that unlit stretch conditions combined with the unexpected appearance of the camel caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
