The ascetic was Congress MP Pappu Yadav from Bihar's Purnia. The woman was a Samajwadi Party MP. The man who walked in with the cash was Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Watching from the background were Opposition MPs, including Dimple Yadav. Together, these MPs came forward to mount pressure on the BJP-led NDA government on the alleged Ram Temple embezzlement row, a case where large parts of the donations, including cash, gold, and others, were allegedly syphoned off by the temple staff. The case also raised questions regarding the role of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, or the temple trust. Champat Rai, the general secretary and a prominent figure of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, resigned following a massive stir.
