The trailer of Iām Game, which marks Dulquer Salmaanās return to Malayalam cinema as a lead after three years, has been released. The action thriller, written and directed by Nahas Hidhayath, is set against the backdrop of the gambling and betting industry. The film is set to release on August 20, clashing with Nivin Pauly-starrer Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and Prithviraj Sukumaranās Khalifa. The trailer boasts multiple high-octane sequences with Dulquer as Dan John, who affirms that the greatest secret to gambling is āpure algorithmā.
Produced by Dulquer under the banner of Wayfarer Film, Iām Game has a screenplay by Sajeer Baba, Bilal Moidu, and Ismail Aboobacker. The filmās star-studded lineup includes Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Antony Varghese, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinay Forrt, and Kathir. Ace cinematographer Jimshi Khalid is the DOP of the film edited by Chaman Chakko. Jakes Bejoy handles the music and the filmās original score. Dulquer was last seen in the Tamil film Kaantha. He is also slated to appear in a multilingual film, Sri Sri, opposite Pooja Hegde.
He was last seen in a Malayalam film, in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, in a cameo role. His last film as the lead in Malayalam, King of Kotha, directed by Abhilash Joshiy, failed at the box office, despite its hype. The Hindu review of King of Kotha said, āIn a cinematic equivalent of the movieās pre-release hype, (Abhilash) Joshiy and (writer Abhilash N) Chandran fill the screen with bits and pieces to play up Rajuās legend, before unleashing him on screen.
And, just like how the movie pans out, although Raju stands tall, he does not exactly set the screen on fire, which can be partly attributed to the writing. The punch lines land with a whimper than a bang.ā Iām Game also marks Nahas Hidhayathās sophomore film, following a successful debut with the action flick RDX(2023) starring Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav.
