Telangana marked its 12th State Formation Day on Tuesday with celebrations across police establishments and government offices in Hyderabad, with senior officials paying tribute to the martyrs of the Telangana movement and highlighting the State’s progress since its formation in 2014. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy honoured police personnel for acts of bravery and distinguished service at the main function on Parade Ground in the presence of DGP C.V. Anand. During the event, 17 police officers and personnel who were awarded Gallantry Medals were felicitated, while a police constable who received the Jeevan Raksha Padak for life-saving acts was also honoured. At the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate Parade Ground, Commissioner M. Ramesh unfurled the Flag and received a Guard of Honour. Addressing police personnel, he said public safety was the foundation of development and noted that Telangana had emerged as a national model in areas such as infrastructure, economic growth and policing.
Several police personnel were presented with Mahonnatha Seva, Uthama Seva and Seva medals during the ceremony. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Ravikumar and Reserve Sub-Inspector G. Ashok were selected for the Mahonnatha Seva Medal, while SIs K. Srinivas, S. Rambabu, and Mohammed Haji Miya, along with ARSI Krishna Naredla and ASI V. Venkata Suryanarayana Raju, were selected for the Uthama Seva Medals. Similarly, another 37 officers and personnel from the Cyberabad police were selected for the Seva Medals. At the City Armed Reserve Headquarters in Petlaburz, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar unfurled the Flag and paid tributes to the martyrs of the Telangana Statehood movement. Addressing police personnel, he highlighted a series of citizen-centric and technology-driven initiatives introduced by the Hyderabad Police. These included the AI-powered ‘C-Mitra’ virtual police officer platform, through which more than 1,100 Zero FIRs and 380 cybercrime cases have been registered, the AI Cop-Writer system for streamlined complaint registration, and the SOC-EYE application for monitoring online threats and protecting women and children.
He also highlighted the work of the H-FAST wing, which has registered 173 cases and seized around 95 tonnes of adulterated food products, and the Spandana emergency response teams, which are handling around 30 complaints daily. The Commissioner also underlined welfare initiatives for police personnel, including large-scale health screening programme for nearly 20,000 personnel and health profiling and specialised training aimed at improving professional standards and public service delivery. Among those recognised during the celebrations was police constable Bandikindi Shravan Kumar, recipient of the Jeevan Raksha Padak for rescuing people during separate fire incidents in Hyderabad. Several Greyhounds and intelligence personnel who had earlier received Gallantry Medals for acts of bravery were also acknowledged. Meanwhile, Telangana Formation Day was also celebrated at the DGP Office, where IGP (Personnel and Logistics) Gajarao Bhupal unfurled the Flag, and at the Anti-Corruption Bureau headquarters in Banjara Hills, where ACB Director Avinash Mohanty led the celebrations.
At Abkari Bhavan, Commissioner C. Harikiran hoisted the Flag and paid tributes to Telangana Thalli in the presence of senior Prohibition and Excise Department officials. Across the various events, speakers paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the Telangana Statehood movement and reiterated their commitment to public service, law and order, and the state’s continued development.
