(Image credit: Reuters) The founder of the Cockroach Janata Party Abhijeet Dipke has said that there is a “huge question mark" over the ability of the Supreme Court to safeguard democracy in India. His comments on the judiciary have come soon after the apex court permitted state governments to register FIRs against student protesters demanded former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“There is a question mark even on judiciary. We have all seen how the ED and CBI were used to break parties like the Shiv Sena and the NCP. The big institutions in the country had a duty to keep democracy alive and not create the dictatorship of a single man. They let it happen. To stop this, not only the Opposition, but even the people will have to come together," Dipke said, as quoted by India Today. “Saving democracy is not merely an Opposition issue now. The people of the country will have to come together (to save it)", he added. The CJP founder didn’t just stop there. Urging people to unite against the government led by PM Modi, he said, “the entire country needs to come together." Dipke, who had recently returned from the United States after founding the CJP, as a satirical platform, in response to the comments of the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant that RTI activists who had no job are like cockroaches, also slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government over its decision to replace Dharmendra Pradhan with Pralhad Joshi.

“They have removed Pradhan and brought another person who welcomes and supports the rapists of Bilkis Bano. What kind of message are you sending? But what else can they do? Their entire party is filled with goons; they have Kuldeep Sengar. Under their government, Ram Rahim comes out on parole. This is a government that supports rapists," he said. He further claimed that he and his family were threatened by the BJP to get them join their party, however, he “made it clear" that he won’t join them.
