Punjab witnessed a widespread bandh as Safai Karamcharis continued their protest over multiple demands, including stricter action in the Barnala lathi-charge incident and regularisation of sanitation workers. Markets remained shut across several districts, including Ropar, Amritsar, Fazilka, Pathankot, Sangrur and Gurdaspur.
While the Punjab government has announced measures such as salary hikes and regularisation for certain categories of workers, the protesting unions have rejected the proposals, and the deadlock continues.
