Kharge said that if Shah failed to explain the police action, he should resign, adding that the Home Minister "cannot stay hidden forever." The BJP strongly condemned the remarks, accusing the Congress of threatening the Home Minister and adopting the language of "Urban Naxals." The ruling party also alleged that the Congress was resorting to intimidation after failing to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi electorally.
