Hundreds of aspirants of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) have begun an indefinite sit-in protest at Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi, alleging corruption and irregularities in recruitment examinations. Protesters said they are prepared for a long struggle and have arrived with bedding and essential supplies, indicating they have no plans to leave until action is taken. Aspirants from several districts, including Ramgarh, Bokaro and Hazaribagh, have travelled to Ranchi to participate in the movement. Many said they had taken permission from their families and arranged money to stay in the capital for as long as necessary. Women candidates have also joined the sit-in in significant numbers. IRREGULARITIES UNDERMINE EXAM CREDIBILITY The demonstrators alleged that repeated irregularities have undermined the credibility of recruitment conducted by the JPSC and JSSC.
They said the agitation aims to secure a transparent and corruption-free recruitment process rather than focusing on any single examination. "We have come here determined to fight this battle till the end. We will return only after ensuring that JPSC and JSSC are free from corruption," one aspirant said. In support of the agitation, the student wing of the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) organised a protest march from outside Jaipal Singh Stadium to Raj Bhavan, raising slogans against the alleged recruitment irregularities and demanding accountability.
The indefinite sit-in marks one of the largest recent mobilisations by job aspirants in Jharkhand, with protesters indicating they are prepared to sustain the movement for an extended period. As the agitation enters its first phase, demonstrators have vowed to continue camping at the venue until the government addresses their concerns over alleged corruption in the state's recruitment system.
