Heavy rains continued to lash Telangana for the second consecutive day on Thursday with several districts recording more than 100 mm of rainfall, triggering flooding in low-lying areas and prompting district administrations to step up monitoring and relief measures. The heaviest rainfall was reported from Mancherial, Jagtial, Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal and Peddapalli districts, where overflowing streams, inundated roads and disrupted connectivity affected normal life in several villages. According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 7 p.m., Tapalpur in Mancherial district recorded the highest rainfall in the State at 163 mm. This was followed by 149.5 mm in Kolvai (Jagtial), 131.5 mm in Bharampur (Adilabad), 113.3 mm in Hajipur (Mancherial), 111.5 mm in Velgatoor (Jagtial), 111 mm in Gullakota (Jagtial), 104.8 mm in Jainoor (Kumaram Bheem Asifabad), 103.8 mm in Kaddam Peddur (Nirmal) and 100.8 mm in Akenapalli (Peddapalli).
In Mancherial district, Collector Kumar Deepak inspected flood-affected areas in Wards 19 and 7 of Mandamarri Municipality and directed officials to expedite relief measures, restore road connectivity and provide compensation to affected families. He instructed officials from the Forest Department and other concerned departments to prioritise the restoration of roads to villages in the Chennur constituency that had been cut off due to flooding. The Collector inspected the floodwaters flowing along the road leading to the Kamakhya Ammavari Temple in Ward 19 and examined a house wall that had collapsed in Ward 7. Satya Prasad inspected the stream between Yamapur and Fakir Kondapur villages in Ibrahimpatnam mandal after water levels rose following the heavy rains. He appealed to residents not to attempt crossing overflowing streams or causeways and directed officials to maintain constant surveillance over low-lying and flood-prone areas. He also ordered the installation of warning signboards at vulnerable locations to prevent accidents. In Adilabad district, Collector Rajarshi Shah, accompanied by Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, inspected the Bhimanna Vagu culvert and the Mattadi Vagu irrigation project in Tamsi mandal to assess the flood situation. The Collector directed officials to remain on high alert, continuously monitor vulnerable locations and ensure prompt response to any emergency. While northern Telangana bore the brunt of the rainfall, Hyderabad witnessed light to moderate showers.
