Sajjanar, on Thursday, urged residents to remain vigilant in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall over the next two days and advised them to avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary during intense rain. “People should closely monitor weather updates and advisories issued by the India Meteorological Department and plan their daily travel accordingly.
The Police Department is working in close coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other government departments to ensure that the rains cause minimum inconvenience to people,” he said. The Commissioner personally inspected traffic movement and road conditions at Punjagutta and Khairatabad junctions on Thursday and issued instructions to field officials to ensure smooth traffic management.
He said traffic personnel would remain deployed across the city to prevent congestion and respond promptly to rain-related disruptions. He also advised people to stay away from open manholes, snapped electricity wires and electric poles during heavy rain. Motorists were urged to exercise caution while driving through low-lying areas and near flyovers where waterlogging is common, and to reduce speed to avoid accidents.
The Commissioner appealed to citizens to stay indoors during heavy rain unless travel is unavoidable. He also asked the public to dial 100 in case of emergencies or for traffic-related assistance, and to regularly follow traffic advisories issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police through social media and other platforms.
