Shopping on Flipkart just got a little easier on the wallet. Ahead of its Freedom Sale, the shopping platform has launched Flipkart Pay Later, a new credit service that lets customers buy products immediately and pay later through flexible repayment options. The service has been introduced in partnership with PayU Finance and is available across Flipkart, Myntra, and Flipkart Minutes. According to Flipkart, the new offering is designed to give shoppers more flexibility at checkout, whether they are buying everyday essentials or expensive gadgets like smartphones and home appliances. Customers can choose from three different repayment options depending on the value of their purchase.

There is also a Pay in 3 option that divides the bill into three equal payments. For higher-value purchases, Flipkart is offering EMI plans ranging from three to 12 months. The EMI option can be used for categories such as smartphones, laptops, electronics, furniture, and home appliances. At the same time, the Pay Later and Pay in 3 options are aimed at everyday shopping across Flipkart Minutes, fashion, beauty, home products, and general merchandise.
Flipkart says the programme has been launched with PayU Finance, which acts as the lending partner. While PayU Finance provides the credit as a licensed lender, Flipkart Finance handles customer relationships and uses shopping behaviour and transaction history to support credit decisions. Itโs worth noting that Flipkart's latest Pay Later launch also comes as the company prepares to expand beyond online shopping. Earlier this month, Flipkart confirmed that it will enter the online food delivery business in the coming weeks. The Walmart-owned company plans to roll out the service in phases before expanding nationwide, with access available through both a dedicated app and the main Flipkart app.
The move is expected to put Flipkart in direct competition with Swiggy and Eternal-owned Zomato, while further strengthening its broader commerce ecosystem. Now the Flipkart Pay Later launch also comes just ahead of the Flipkart Freedom Sale, which begins on August 8, giving shoppers another payment option as discounts on smartphones, electronics, and other products are expected to go live.
