Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dismiss Home Minister Amit Shah and order an independent Supreme Court-monitored probe into the July 20 police action against protesting students. Speaking at a press conference following the passage of the Anti Paper Leak bill in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi refused to apologize to the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for his parliamentary remarks regarding student firing and pellet gun usage.
Meanwhile, Opposition parties, including the Congress and Samajwadi Party, staged protests outside Parliament at Makar Dwar, raising issues related to the crackdown on students and alleged Ram Temple donation theft. The government and ruling party leaders criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making unsubstantiated, defamatory allegations without mandatory prior notice, violating parliamentary rules, and misleading the House.
