‘Insult To Kannadigas’: BJP’s Vijayendra Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Delay In Karnataka Cabinet Expansion Published By, Last Updated: July 30, 2026, 12:17 IST He alleged that the Karnataka leaders had been repeatedly visiting Delhi with the list of ministerial aspirants and accused Rahul Gandhi of keeping them waiting. Rapid Read The BJP's attack comes amid speculation over the Karnataka cabinet expansion BJP leader Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the delay in Karnataka’s Cabinet expansion, accusing the state’s Congress leadership of “waiting at Rahul Gandhi’s doorstep" for approval. In a post on X, Vijayendra questioned whether the people of Karnataka were being “ignored" and targeted Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president B.K. Hariprasad over the reported discussions with the Congress high command regarding ministerial appointments. “Do you think the people of our state are idiots, Rahul Gandhi?" Vijayendra wrote in his post. He alleged that the Karnataka leaders had been repeatedly visiting Delhi with the list of ministerial aspirants and accused Rahul Gandhi of keeping them waiting.
“Are you sending them away with ‘come tomorrow, come tomorrow ‘…," he said. Vijayendra further attacked the Congress leadership, saying, “It’s not just an insult to the backward, marginalised communities of our state… this is an insult to all communities in the state…" The BJP leader also criticised the Congress leaders over the internal process of finalising ministers, saying, “Look here, the rooms in Vidhana Soudha are waiting for the ministers. But the ministerial aspirants are waiting at your doorstep!" ‘Aspiring Ministers MLA List’ Vijayendra Yediyurappa also shared an image along with his post, drawing a reference to the Bollywood film 3 Idiots. The picture shows a group of people in an event-like setting, with one person holding a paper titled “Aspiring Ministers MLA List" featuring numbered blank spaces. A board visible in the background reads “Karnataka Government Cabinet Expansion". The image appears to be a satirical dig at the delay in finalising the Karnataka cabinet expansion, with Vijayendra suggesting that Congress MLAs aspiring for ministerial berths are waiting for approval from the party leadership. BJP Attacks DK Shivakumar The Karnataka BJP alleged that CM Shivakumar was waiting for approval from the Congress high command instead of addressing issues faced by people of the state.
