Meta has written to the Indian government outlining multi-layered safeguards for posts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent accounts on its social media platforms. The move follows the brief restriction of PM Narendra Modi's Facebook post addressing India's youth on paper leaks. Meta attributed the restriction to a technical glitch involving AI automated content filters and issued an apology.
After the Centre summoned a top Meta executive over the incident, the company informed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology that content from high-profile accounts will now undergo additional oversight involving senior officials to prevent automated moderation errors.
