The Kerala Headload Workersâ Act, 1978, will be modernised after a study of the conditions in modern times, Minister for Labour Bindhu Krishna has said. She was speaking after inaugurating a headload workersâ meeting organised by the Headload and Loading Workersâ Congress here on Wednesday.
The Minister said steps would be taken to revise the wages for loading and unloading work in various sectors that had remained the same for years. Bringing in more responsibility in the Stateâs loading and unloading sector with the aim of protecting it was the State governmentâs responsibility too, Ms. Krishna said.
