A major political confrontation erupted in the Lok Sabha as Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation over the alleged deployment of pellet guns against student protesters in Delhi. Home Minister P. Chidambaram stated that pellet guns were used, resulting in three injuries, and called for an inquiry to establish accountability. The Bharatiya Janata Party rejected the allegations, stating that tear gas was used instead of pellet guns, and accused the Opposition of stalling parliamentary proceedings.
