THG Publishing Pvt. Ltd., through its division Standardised Test of English Proficiency (STEP) from The Hindu Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru. The extended partnership will see the continuation of the STEP learning programme for another two years, aimed at enhancing studentsā English language skills. STEP is an English language testing, training and certification programme launched by The Hindu Group with the goal of making high-quality English language learning accessible and affordable.
The programme combines advanced technology and world-class training methodologies to help students improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The programme, known as STEP Train, has been recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the governmentās Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT 2.0) initiative. STEP is the only English certification course selected for inclusion in the initiative.
This recognition highlights STEPās innovative use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to support English language learning and improve communication skills among learners, with a measurable impact on student outcomes. K.N. Subramanya, Principal and Professor, RV College of Engineering, said, āThe STEP programme has been beneficial to our students as it helps them learn various aspects of the English language and avoid fundamental mistakes. It is more practice-oriented than literature-based learning.
Since many students come from rural backgrounds, STEP helps them develop English language skills, which prove valuable during campus placements in various multinational companies. Unlike in previous academic years, we have introduced the programme in the first year itself across all engineering colleges.ā
