MCC continues initiative to clear garbage hotspots in Mysuru

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) took up the task of clearing a major waste accumulation site on Dawood Khan Road near Five Lights Circle in Mysuru early on Wednesday as part of the Independence Day Cleanliness Campaign - 2026 to clear 80 Garbage Vulnerable Points in the city. The campaign launched on Tuesday seeks to convert 80 such Garbage Vulnerable Points in Mysuru into Garbage-free spots.
Members of various organisations, volunteers and local residents joined the MCC in the cleanliness initiative. MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha led the cleanliness drive along with senior officials of the civic body, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Environmental Engineers, Health Inspectors, Supervisors and civic workers, who participated in the exercise by removing garbage and transforming the site into a garbage-free spot.
A statement by MCC said that continuous monitoring would be undertaken to ensure that waste is not dumped again at the cleaned site. “The campaign aims to clean and convert all 80 identified Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) across Mysuru into garbage-free locations in a phased manner,” the statement said.
The public, voluntary organisations and other institutions have been urged to join hands with the MCC in maintaining the city’s cleanliness.
