Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, expelled BJP MLA, has alleged that B.S. Yediyurappa, former Chief Minister, had accepted bribes from Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar, to appoint the latter as chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). “Mr. Yediyurappa not only appointed him as he was his relative, but also took money from him. Who knows how many hundred crores he took,’’ Mr. Yatnal told reporters in Vijayapura on Wednesday (July 29).
Yatnal alleged that the KPSC chairman and members had made over ₹300 crore in appointments. He demanded that the State government probe all the appointments of government employees made by Mr. Sahukar in various departments. “I have a question for the BJP high command: Why did they make B.Y. Vijayendra, Mr. Yediyurappa’s son, the BJP State president?
Did they not know that Mr. Yediyurappa was such a corrupt person? Is he the only Lingayat leader you could find? Has he taken a contract of ensuring the loyalty of Lingayats to the party?” questioned Mr. Yatnal. “I also have a question for Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. You went to New Delhi to participate in the Jantar Mantar protest demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging irregularities in the NEET examination.
But who is responsible for the several irregularities in the KPSC recruitment process? Should we not seek the resignation of Mr. Shivakumar for this?’’ he asked.
