Speaking to Fox News in a phone interview, Trump said the United States would retaliate decisively for what he described as an overnight Iranian strike on US assets.

“We’ll be hitting them hard. They’re going to get a beating," Trump said, adding that Washington was going to “beat the f**king sh*t" out of Iran. The US president also described the missile barrage targeting American forces in Jordan as a “surprise attack," saying troops had only minutes to intercept the incoming missiles. Missile Attack on US Base According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched multiple ballistic missiles at a US military base in Jordan. US and Jordanian air defence systems intercepted the missiles before they struck the installation, and no casualties were reported from the latest attack. The strike marked the first direct Iranian missile attack on a US military base since Trump paused planned US military action against Iran last week to leave room for diplomatic engagement. Trump Keeps Door Open for Diplomacy Despite his strong warning, Trump said the United States still preferred a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

Speaking earlier alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, he called the missile barrage an “attempted surprise attack" and warned Iran would face severe consequences if it continued targeting US personnel. Trump said Washington had been holding “good talks" with Tehran but made clear that any further attacks would trigger a strong American response. US, Saudi Arabia Launch Joint Strikes Amid the escalating tensions, the United States and Saudi Arabia carried out coordinated strikes against Iran-backed militia positions in Iraq. The operation reportedly targeted logistics hubs, weapons depots and other military infrastructure used by armed groups aligned with Tehran. Iraq condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty, while Iran denied seeking a broader regional conflict. Oil Prices Rise The latest escalation rattled global energy markets, with Brent crude climbing to nearly $88 a barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) also posting sharp gains amid fears that a wider conflict could disrupt oil supplies and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
