A head constable attached to the Sanjaynagar Police Station was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths after a woman accused him of behaving inappropriately with her while travelling on a BMTC bus. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening near Gangammanagudi Circle. According to preliminary information, head constable Manjunath had boarded a bus to travel towards Jalahalli.
During the journey, a woman allegedly accused him of behaving indecently, leading to a heated argument inside the bus. The woman is said to have called her relatives over the phone. As the bus reached Gangammanagudi Circle, a group of youths allegedly intercepted Manjunath and assaulted him.
The attackers allegedly tore his clothes and repeatedly assaulted him, leaving him with facial bleeding and bruises. He was later shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint against the head constable alleging inappropriate behaviour. Manjunath, in turn, has filed a counter-complaint against the group of youths for assaulting him.
The police have registered cases based on both complaints and are investigating the incident. The exact sequence of events and the allegations made by both sides are being verified.
