The case surfaced nearly a month after the child’s funeral when the woman allegedly confessed to her husband. The incident took place on June 28 in Chauli village under the Baldev police station area. According to Mathura Police, they received a Dial 112 call at around 7.30 pm on July 27 from Govind Gupta, who alleged that his brother’s wife had strangled her three-year-old son.
During the investigation, police found that the child, Madhav, had died on June 28. Officials said the boy was playing and crying while his mother, identified as Ruchi Gupta, was speaking to her alleged lover over the phone. As she allegedly tried to stop him, she scolded and beat the child before allegedly pressing his neck, leading to his death. According to the police, Ruchi later informed her husband, Krishna Murari Gupta, who runs a medical store, that their son was not waking up and appeared to be asleep. Earlier, she had also told him over the phone that the child had fallen ill after crying continuously and had stopped responding. The family rushed the boy to SIMS Hospital and later to another private hospital in Mathura, where doctors declared him dead.
