Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh replied to a ten-hour parliamentary discussion on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill 2026 in the Lok Sabha. Addressing criticism from the Opposition, Dr. Jitendra Singh stated, "Utmost restraint was exercised and it was made sure that casualties don't happen," countering claims made by opposition members regarding student protests.
He criticized the Leader of the Opposition for unparliamentary conduct and inaccurate allegations regarding order of firing and security cavalcade sizes. Dr. Jitendra Singh defended the government's education reforms, emphasizing that the Education Policy 2020 has liberated students from rigid subject selections. Outlining the bill's provisions, he highlighted increased penalties, including raising service provider fines to five crore rupees, director imprisonment terms up to ten years, and organized crime fines up to ten crore rupees to combat paper leakages effectively.
