In a statement, the Blackburn lawmaker said he was saddened by the loss of life during the recent clashes in PoK and extended his condolences to families affected by the violence, including members of the Kashmiri diaspora in his constituency.

Hussain said allegations surrounding the use of excessive force against protesters warranted a transparent and independent inquiry to establish the facts and ensure accountability. “I am deeply concerned by the reports emerging from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the tragic loss of civilian lives. These allegations must be investigated independently and transparently," he said. The MP also urged authorities to avoid any further escalation and called for peaceful dialogue to address the grievances that have fuelled the protests. “It is essential that all parties exercise restraint. The concerns of the people should be addressed through dialogue, not violence," he said. The statement comes amid escalating unrest across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where demonstrations that began over governance, public services and economic issues have intensified in recent days.

The Awami Action Committee (AAC), which has been leading the protests, has alleged that Pakistani security forces opened fire on a peaceful ‘Long March’ in Rawalakot, claiming that dozens of civilians were killed and hundreds injured. The crackdown has drawn increasing attention from political leaders and members of the Kashmiri diaspora overseas. Protest organisers have also announced a “Million March" on July 30 to condemn the alleged use of force and demand accountability.
