Annamalai in Delhi Amid New Party Speculation Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai will be in New Delhi on Tuesday amid growing speculation that he may be preparing to launch a new political outfit. Asked about reports of a possible political foray, Annamalai neither confirmed nor denied the move, saying he would make his position clear within the next two days. Sources said he is expected to meet senior BJP leaders, including Tamil Nadu in-charge Nitin Nabin, and discuss the evolving political landscape in the state. 3. Karnataka Cabinet Buzz Intensifies With D K Shivakumar set to take oath as Karnataka chief minister on June 3, efforts to finalise his cabinet have gathered pace. Shivakumar is in New Delhi holding consultations with the Congress leadership, while former chief minister Siddaramaiah and other senior state leaders were also in the capital on Monday for discussions on cabinet formation. Sources said preliminary talks are underway with AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala regarding the likely inductees.
Leaders aligned with Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge are reportedly pushing for their loyalists to secure ministerial berths. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, an MLC and the former chief minister’s son, is also said to be in contention. 4. Parliamentary Panel to Question Education Ministry, CBSE Amid widespread outrage over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and concerns surrounding the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, a parliamentary panel will meet senior officials from the Union Education Ministry and the CBSE on Tuesday. The committee, chaired by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, has summoned School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar and CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh to explain the circumstances surrounding the examination and evaluation process. The discussions are expected to focus on examination integrity, alleged procedural lapses and measures needed to restore confidence among students and parents. 5. Weather Update Several parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and western Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive rainfall on Tuesday as conditions become increasingly favourable for the southwest monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that the monsoon is likely to make its onset over Kerala later this week, marking the beginning of the country’s crucial four-month rainy season.
