The government has cleared 111 road projects worth Rs 2,481.93 crore to improve connectivity in villages along the India-China border. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sanctioned 111 road projects worth Rs 2,481.93 crore under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) to provide all-weather road connectivity to 134 unconnected villages along the India-China border, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
In a written reply, Nityanand Rai said 528 villages have been connected with 4G mobile services, 625 villages now have piped drinking water supply and 621 villages have access to on-grid or off-grid electricity. He added that the MHA has also sanctioned 140 off-grid solar projects and seven micro-hydel projects under VVP-I. Separately, the Ministry of Power approved 43 projects worth ₹238.30 crore to strengthen power distribution infrastructure. According to the minister, 40 mobile medical units have been sanctioned for Arunachal Pradesh, while 146 projects for the construction or upgradation of school infrastructure have also been approved under the programme.
