The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Jay Clayton as the next director of national intelligence. Clayton, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and a former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman, was confirmed 51-47 along party lines.
The confirmation comes after President Donald Trump delayed Clayton's hearing in order to allow his temporary pick, Bill Pulte, to take over for several weeks after Tulsi Gabbard resigned from her role as the top intel chief.
