The City Central Crime Branch in Tamil Nadu has registered an FIR against 19 individuals over the alleged illegal transfer, registration, and mortgaging of 1.79 acres of trust land valued at around 60 crore rupees. The property belongs to a charitable trust established around 1930 to serve the Madurai Minakshi Sundareshwar temple.
According to details, illegal attempts to alter property records and transfer ownership occurred in 2016 and 2021. The case has been registered under Sections 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code. This marks the second major temple land scam reported in the state within a month.
