The Delhi Police have issued notices to major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X, directing them to remove false and misleading content related to the violence during the CJP-led protests in the national capital. Officials stated that a continuous monitoring exercise revealed a systematic distribution of fake narratives, manipulated posts, and deepfake videos intended to disrupt public order. According to police sources, several social media handles, individual influencers, and online news portals circulated unverified videos, including doctored clips linked to the Jantar Mantar demonstration.
The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit of the Delhi Police has flagged these posts and urged the platforms to take immediate action by deleting misinformation. Law enforcement authorities noted that cyber monitoring teams tracked down specific instances, such as an AI-manipulated video of a senior police officer, as well as foreign-operated accounts spreading false content. Police confirmed that further legal action and questioning of handles responsible for sharing these posts will follow based on responses received from the platforms.
