An exam reforms debate turned into a political flashpoint after Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra questioned the inclusion of IIT Madras Director Professor V. Kamakoti on the NTA reforms task force panel. Calling him a 'gau mutra expert', Priyanka Gandhi referred to his January 2025 remarks claiming cow urine has medicinal qualities and helps with irritable bowel syndrome.
The BJP responded strongly, with Raj Thakur defending Professor Kamakoti as an AI expert and leading professor while accusing the Congress of insulting Indian culture. Professor Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras since 2022, is an expert in computer architecture, information security, and VLSI design, and serves on the Security Advisory Board.
