The Lok Sabha witnessed a showdown over the government's anti-paper leak bill, with the ruling party and opposition clashing over exam reforms. Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh defended the legislation as a landmark reform aimed at protecting students and dismantling paper leak networks. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to safeguarding the future of the youth and stated that the Modi government would eliminate paper leaks just as it addressed terrorism and Naxalism.
Opposition leaders launched an attack against the government. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi accused the administration of stealing the future of India's youth and questioned police action against protesting students. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the government acted only due to student protests and criticized its handling of the issue. Opposition members also questioned why paper leaks persisted despite previous legislative measures.
BJP leaders countered by highlighting decades of past paper leaks across states and maintained that the new bill provides a concrete solution.
