Bridge Collapse: Made For 16 Crore Rupees, Dehradun Bridge Approach Road Caves In Within 17 Days
Torrential rainfall caused the approach road to a newly constructed bridge over the Tons River in Prem Nagar, Dehradun, to cave in just 17 days
Torrential rainfall caused the approach road to a newly constructed bridge over the Tons River in Prem Nagar, Dehradun, to cave in just 17 days after its opening. The bridge, constructed at a cost of nearly 16 crore rupees over one year, had replaced an older structure washed away the previous year. The road collapse disrupted connectivity between several rural areas and the state capital, forcing villagers to take long detours.
While official inspection and repair work are underway to determine the cause of the cave-in, local residents have expressed outrage and opposition leaders have demanded accountability for infrastructural lapses.
