After returning to Ladakh following a month-long protest in Delhi, Geetanjali Angmo, wife of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, issued a statement on X addressing political attacks. Angmo stated that when Wangchuk was detained, the BJP IT cell called him an anti-national and Chinese agent, while the Congress Party labeled them BJP and RSS stooges after they called political protests insincere.
She clarified that they hold no affiliation with any political party and called for a change in political thought. Meanwhile, Wangchuk, who ended a 26-day hunger strike following hospitalisation and meetings with government ministers, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, stating Gandhi's satyagraha methods remain relevant.
